Jordan Osterman
A St. Thomas alumnus has been named “New Journalist of the Year” for weekly newspapers in Minnesota for the second year in a row.
Jordan Osterman ’11, sports editor of the Waseca County News, received the honor Thursday, Jan. 26, from the Minnesota Newspaper Association. Last year, Shane Kitzman ’10, sports editor of the Northfield News, received the same award.

Judges said of Osterman’s stories: “Outstanding writing, as evidenced by the pieces in this package. Surprising perspective from someone who is a new journalist. Bright, bright future ahead for this young person.”
Kitzman and Osterman both were communication and journalism majors at St. Thomas and worked on tommiemedia.com as undergraduate students.
