BESA hosts 'A Night of Expression!' Black History Month Gala on Saturday

The Black Empowerment Student Alliance invites University of St. Thomas students, faculty, staff and the community to “A Night of Expression!” on Saturday, Feb. 18. In celebration of Black History Month, the gala includes dinner and will highlight Black art and entertainment. Semiformal attire is suggested.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. in the James B. Woulfe Alumni Hall, Anderson Student Center.

Keynote speaker Bruce George, co-founder of HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, will be featured along with a fashion show presented by NSOD, Studiiyo23, BothDol and Liberation Clothing. Musical performances include Patricia Lacy-Aiken (of Grammy-winning group Sounds of Blackness and former Luther Vandross background singer) and African drumming by Heart and Soul Drum Academy.
