Panel discussion tonight will examine poverty in the Twin Cities

UST's Amnesty International presents "Poverty Panel," a panel discussion on local poverty with members of the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless and St. Stephen's Human Services.

This event will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, in Room 304, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Bring canned goods for distribution to a local food shelf.

Did you know:

  • On any given night in Minnesota, about 550 to 650 unaccompanied youth (age 17 or younger) are homeless? (That many people would exceed the capacity of O'Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium.)
  • On Oct. 26, 2006, the Wilder Research Center estimated that there were 7,713 "homeless and precariously housed people in Minnesota." (That population outnumbers 2007 UST undergrads by 1,637 people.)
