Participate in popular 24-hour play festival Friday, Saturday

The popular 24-hour play festival will be held from 8 p.m. Friday, April 17, to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 18.

All participants will gather at 8 p.m. tomorrow in Baumgaertner Auditorium, Brady Educational Center (a new venue). There it will be decided who wants to be directors, writers and/or actors.

The group then will disperse and leave writers to their – writing! They will have until 6 a.m. the next morning to write an eight-minute play on a topic of their choice and e-mail it to the festival's organizers. Drama, comedy, mime, a musical, a mix – anything and everything goes.

Everyone reconvenes at Baumgaertner Auditorium where directors are assigned randomly to a script, actors to a director, and off they go. Directors and actors have all of Saturday to perfect their short ditties and perform them at 8 p.m. Saturday night (hence 24 hours).

As always, everyone is welcome to participate; no previous experience is required. Audience members are needed as well.

This year, a free-will offering will be accepted at the door for a charity that takes underprivileged kids to see theater performances.
