Philosophy Colloquium Asks: 'Did Thomas Aquinas "Really" Say That?'

Dr. Gloria Frost, assistant professor in the Philosophy Department, will speak on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Philosophy Colloquium. Her talk is titled “Did Thomas Aquinas Really Say That?: Constituting Modern Texts From Medieval Manuscripts.”

The talk will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 126, John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts.  Everyone is welcome.

Frost will ask the audience: Have you ever wondered how the texts you are assigned to read in some of your philosophy courses got from the 13th century to the St. Thomas Bookstore?

In her presentation, Frost will discuss how today’s scholars decode and compare medieval manuscripts in order to determine which words should go into the texts that we read today of authors such as Anselm, Aquinas and Scotus.
