Please remember in your prayers Erin Sobaski, 52, class of 1985 and inductee into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995 for women's track and field. She died on June 6 after spending time in hospice care at Our Lady of Peace in St. Paul.
A celebration of Sobaski's life was from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at O'Gara's Bar & Grill, 164 N Snelling Ave., St. Paul. Read her obituary here.
Sobaski was a six-time track and field All-American in three NCAA meets, helping St. Thomas place fourth nationally her senior year, when she competed in four events. Her best nationals finish was as a NCAA runner-up in the 400 hurdles in 1984. She won the Most Outstanding Performer award at the MIAC outdoor meet in 1985, when she had six top-two individual and relay places, and her 5-foot-6 high jump ranks her among the best in program history.
