Sophia (Benick) Bouwens
Please pray for the health of Sophia (Benick) Bouwens '10. She was injured in a car accident on Monday night.
Bouwens, who is married and has two young children, was critically injured when another car ran a stop sign at the intersection of North Cypress Street and Sixth Street East, hit Bouwen and then another home. The impact of the collision sent Bouwen’s car through a retaining wall and into the home behind the wall. She is at Regions Hospital with multiple jaw fractures and a fracture at the base of her skull and spine that will likely require multiple surgeries.
She graduated from St. Thomas in 2010 with a degree in neuroscience and was part of the McNair Scholars Program.
