Please remember in your prayers Ana Alvarez-Holmberg

Please remember in your prayers Ana Alvarez-Holmberg, a St. Thomas alumna who died Sept. 5 after being diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer over the summer. She was 46.

A 2003 recipient of a master's degree in human resource development, Ana was the assistive technology team leader at the Courage Center.

She also was the second woman ever to graduate from the mechanical engineering school at Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Lima, Peru – her home country. She immigrated to the United States in 1991.

Ana is survived by her husband, Loras Holmberg, of Plymouth; her parents, Alberto and Auvina Alvarez, and sisters Magdalena and Syra and their families in Peru, and a large, extended family in Peru, Canada, Europe and the United States.

Vistation will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 105 N. Forestview Lane, Plymouth, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Assistive Technology Department, Courage Center, 3915 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, MN 55422.
