Dr. Peter Parilla, Sociology Department, and Dr. Garry Hesser, Augsburg College, contributed a chapter to The Internship Handbook: Development and Administration of Internship Programs in Sociology published by the American Sociological Association. The title of the chapter is "Internships in Sociology: How Students Benefit."
Dr. Shirley Polejewski, Accounting Department, recently returned from teaching a semester in London, England. She participated in the 10th Asian Pacific Conference on International Accounting Issues Nov. 20-25 in Melbourne, Australia. The conference was co-sponsored by the School of Accountancy and Law at RMIT University, Melbourne, and the Sid Craig School of Business, California State University. The conference was a part of the American Accounting Association meeting. Polejewski presented her paper, "Japanese Accounting Methods Compared With the United States' Accounting Methods." She also chaired two sessions, one relating to financial accounting issues and the other relating to managerial accounting and corporate governance. More than 300 professionals representing 140 areas throughout the world participated in the conference.
Dr. Teresa Rothausen, Graduate School of Business, is the author of an article that appeared in the most recent issue of the Journal of Organizational Behavior (November 1999). The article, "'Family' in Organizational Research: A Review and Comparison of Definitions and Measures," examines theoretically and empirically how "family is defined in society and in organizations.
