Dr. Bernard Brady, Theology Department, presented a paper, "Defining Racism," at a recent conference, Catholic Social Thought and Racism, held at Villanova University. The paper was co-written with Raymond Eby, School of Law.

Dr. Stephen Brookfield, School of Education, is the author of The Power of Critical Theory: Liberating Adult Learning and Teaching, published this year by Jossey-Bass/Wiley. The book was endorsed by Princeton University Professor Cornel West as "a sophisticated and comprehensive treatment of the power of Socratic questioning of dogmas and a prophetic witness against the conservative status quo. As an educational praxis it is a must-read for all seriously engaged teachers."

Dr. Susan Smith-Cunnien, Sociology and Criminal Justice Department, gave a presentation, "Civil Society: Community and Crime in South Africa," at the annual meetings of the American Society of Criminology Nov. 17-20 in Nashville, Tenn.
