Dr. Melissa Lamb, Geology Department, received a grant to support two years of fieldwork and laboratory analyses with undergraduates in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia. The grant was awarded by the American Chemical Society from the Petroleum Research Fund. The project will include mapping in a remote mountain range in southwestern Mongolia and collecting samples for geochronologic and geochemical analyses to be conducted in labs at the University of Minnesota, UM-Duluth and Macalester College. Lamb and her students will be joined in the expedition by Dr. Badarch, president of the Geological Society of Mongolia and research scientist at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Nick Nissley, Organization Learning and Development, recently was invited to serve as a reviewer for a special edition of the Academy of Management Review. The special edition, Language and Organization, considers how language lies at the foundation of organizations and their management.
Victoria Young, Art History Department, is the author of an article, "A.W.N. Pugin's Mount Saint Bernard Abbey: The International Character of England's 19th-Century Monastic Revival," in the inaugural issue of Nineteenth-Century Art Worldwide (February 2002).
