Public Safety Alert: Cretin Avenue Burglary

Public Safety would like to alert the University of St. Thomas community of an incident reported by the St. Paul Police Department that occurred on Cretin Avenue North.

Between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, SPPD reported a student being in her off campus house when she saw an unknown male suspect. The suspect indicated he had a firearm. There was no physical contact between the suspect and the victim. The suspect then grabbed several pieces of property and fled the residence. SPPD investigated and believes the initial motive was burglary, but other crimes are being investigated.

The suspect was described by the victim as a black male with medium to dark skin tone, 5’ 8” – 5’ 9”, approximately 150 pounds, short black hair, longer on top, short on the sides, wearing black rectangular framed glasses, black T-shirt, black zip-up hoodie, dark jeans worn low with red boxers.

The University of St. Thomas believes that descriptors alone are not a valid reason to profile or cast suspicion on any individual. They are included here because they may reasonably assist in identifying the perpetrator of this incident.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to call the St. Paul Police Department at (651) 291-1111, or Public Safety at (651) 962-5100.
