Public Safety Alert: Students Robbed Off Campus

A gunman robbed two St. Thomas female students early Sunday on Prior Avenue near Portland Avenue, three blocks east of the St. Paul campus.

The students said they were walking south on Prior with two friends who do not attend St. Thomas when two men approached them about 1 a.m. and indicated they had a gun. One woman turned over her wallet and two turned over their purses after one of the men pointed a gun at them.

The suspects, described as black men in their early 20s, fled south on Prior and got into a black sports utility vehicle before they reached Summit Avenue.

The University of St. Thomas believes that descriptors alone are not a valid reason to profile or cast suspicion on any individual. They are included here because they may reasonably assist in identifying the perpetrator of this incident.

Anyone with information on the crime is urged to call the St. Paul Police Department at (651) 291-1111 or St. Thomas Public Safety at (651) 962-5100.
