Public Safety would like to alert the University of St. Thomas community of suspicious activity recently reported at off campus locations.
At approximately 2 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, a UST student reported an unidentified suspect entered her residence on the 100 block of Cleveland Avenue North. The student was in her room when she heard someone enter her residence from the back door. The student heard the suspect walk to the bathroom, then immediately leave the residence. The student stated the door handle of her back door was locked, but the deadbolt was not secured. Nothing was reported missing. The incident was reported to the St. Paul Police Department.
At 11:27 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, a UST student reported an unidentified suspect was peeping in her residence on the 2000 block of Dayton Avenue. The student reported she saw the suspect from the basement window of her room looking towards her window. The student then contacted Public Safety. While on the phone, a resident of a first floor apartment screamed when she saw the suspect attempting to manipulate a window air conditioning unit. The suspect fled the scene. The St. Paul Police Department was contacted. The suspect could not be located upon SPPD and Public Safety’s search of the area.
The suspect in the second incident was described as tall and wearing a dark hoodie. No further suspect information could be provided.
Public Safety would like to remind off campus residents to report suspicious or criminal activity to police immediately. Keep all doors, windows and garages locked and secured. Insist your landlord make any necessary repairs in a timely manner. If repairs are not being completed, contact the St. Paul Dept. of Safety and Inspections at 651 266-8989.
