All volunteers will receive an admission ticket. Those who volunteer to work during Labor Day weekend (noon Friday, Aug. 31, through Monday, Sept. 3) will receive two extra admission tickets.

Register early to get the date and time that works best for you. The most popular time slots fill up quickly!

This year’s fair runs Thursday, Aug. 23, through Labor Day. Shifts at the booth last three hours and begin at 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Up to five people will be assigned to each shift; faculty, staff, students and alumni are welcome to volunteer.

St. Thomas employees who wish to volunteer at the booth during their regular work hours must obtain supervisor approval prior to signing up for a shift. Hourly employees may sign up for one three-hour shift during their regular work hours and will be paid the three hours at the booth plus one additional hour to compensate for travel.

For the ninth year, booth volunteers will give away the university's perennially popular purple tote bag – this year’s bags are high-quality and very nice!

Tommie Tote-Bag Sighting: The highly coveted purple University of St. Thomas tote bags, available to the public only at the Minnesota State Fair (Education Building), have been sighted and photographed at locations around the world. The most recent tote-bag sighting was the Tommie Tote Bag Tri Team (Tom Couillard, University Relations; Carolyn Milbrath, Human Resources; Mike Reinhart, Information Resources and Technologies) on Saturday, July 23, in Hudson, Wis., at the Croixathon triathlon.
