Register by Tomorrow for Joint Religious Legislative Coalition’s Day on the Hill

In Pope Benedict’s World Day of Peace speech this year, he spoke about religious freedom as the path to peace, saying, “Religion is a positive driving force for the building of civil and political society.”

On Thursday, Feb. 17, hundreds of people who are Christian, Jewish and Muslim will gather at the Minnesota state Capitol for the Joint Religious Legislative Coalition’s Day on the Hill.

Students for Justice and Peace and many other individuals of conscience will take this opportunity to meet and lobby Minnesota’s elected representatives. The event will be held from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Transportation to the event has been arranged for UST students by SJP.

To participate, register online here; SJP will reimburse the full cost of registration for UST participants after the event. After registering, send an e-mail to zill3751@stthomas.edu by tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 10.

In preparation for the Day on the Hill, a discussion will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, in the Koch Commons Fireside Room. Several students from other schools will be present to examine the issues of interest both for individuals and for the Joint Religious Legislative Coalition.
