Please remember in your prayers Ginny Sullivan, who died Tuesday, Aug. 12, after a two year battle with cancer. She was the wife of Tom Sullivan, professor emeritus of philosophy, who taught at St. Thomas for 45 years and for whom the Tom and Ginny Sullivan Scholarship philosophy essay contest is named.
Ginny worked in the library’s circulation desk in the 1980’s and is remembered by many alumni for her wise and generous counsel. Anyone who went to Rome as part of the Catholic Studies program in 2003 and 2010 can attest to her enthusiastic love of Roma and boundless energy in exploring all its treasures. She was the president of the UST Women’s Auxiliary, and enjoyed countless enduring friendships from the strong and welcoming UST community. She went on to teach fifth grade for more than 30 years at Nativity of Our Lord School, touching the minds and hearts of UST alumni who sent their children there.
Ginny was the mother of Thomas Sullivan '86, Seanne Harris '87, Julie Brooks '90, Michael Sullivan '92, Patrick Sullivan '94 and Kerry LeClair '00, mother-in-law of Lucy Cook ’85 and Chris LeClair ’97, and grandmother of Maggie Harris '10.
Her obituary is available online.
