'Rock for Darfur' concert fundraiser is Wednesday at Scooter's

"Rock for Darfur " is a concert featuring three bands and videos – with all donations going to the Genocide Intervention Network's work in Darfur, Sudan. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, in Scooter's. Performing will be the bands Perfunctory, Ladyslipper and Rise or Rust.

Nearly 500,000 people have been killed in Darfur since 2003 and more than 2.5 million people are displaced from their homes and their villages. President George W. Bush and leaders around the world have labeled this a genocide. Women and girls have been targeted for ethnic cleansing through brutal rapes and torture. The Genocide Intervention Network has launched a civilian protection program to help keep them safe.

Make a difference: Come hear the bands, learn about the conflict and help end the crisis. Bring your loose change, dollar bills and checkbooks.

This event is sponsored by the Genocide Intervention Network-Minnesota, a national organization dedicated to building a permanent citizen constituency to prevent and halt genocide.
