Selim Center Announces Winter Programs for Those 50 and Older

The University of St. Thomas Selim Center for Learning in Later Years has announced its winter schedule of six short courses that are tailored for those 50 and older.

The center, which first began offering programs in 1973, will offer six programs that meet in February and March. The classes meet on the university’s St. Paul campus as well as locations in Highland Park, Edina and south Minneapolis. Fees range from $40-$80.

The winter offerings, which are taught by St. Thomas faculty members, are:

Six-session courses:

  • Luke, the Gospel of Mercy and Forgiveness
  • Art History Sampler Series
  • Political Campaigns: The Ethics of Gaining Power Over Others
  • Shakespeare: Start to Finish

Three-session courses:

  • Focus on World Religions: Three Religions, Three Perspectives?
  • Talkin’ About Jazz

Go-to-College program:

The Selim Center coordinates a program that allows those 50 and older to attend regular undergraduate academic courses on a space-available basis. The fee is $80 per course.
