In the most recent study of homelessness in Minnesota (Wilder Research Center), it was found that approximately 9,000 individuals experience homelessness each night. That is as if almost every undergrad and graduate student from St. Thomas on the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses was without a home. Homelessness also is on the rise in the Twin Cities. Of the 9,000 people, 45 percent of them are children and young adults 21-years-old and younger.
A group of St. Thomas students is doing something about homelessness by hosting the 12th annual Listening House Silent Auction on Sunday, April 22. The Listening House, located in downtown St. Paul, is a sanctuary where homeless, disadvantaged or lonely people can be provided with hospitality or practical assistance and support – a place where they are recognized with dignity and become part of a community.
The silent auction will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in McNeely Hall. Purchase tickets online or at the door.
