STAR events sure to shine, kick off fall semester

STAR (St. Thomas Activities and Recreation) events are sure to shine as they kick off the fall semester.

Look for these activities:

FANAMANIAC is back

Kick off the semester with some great FANAMANIAC school spirit. The first football game of the season is Saturday, Sept. 6. Several UST student organizations will host a barbecue at 11 a.m. before the game, by Lot E, east of the field. Enjoy free food, drinks and T-shirts. T-shirts are limited, so come early to take your pick.

STAR Bike Bonanza

Head over to Foley Plaza (or Campus Square if rain occurs) from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, for a chance to win one of 10 free bikes. Sign up for the drawing in the Box Office or until 4 p.m. at the STAR event. The drawing sign-up will begin at noon Monday, Sept. 8, in the Box Office. Only one chance to win per person, and everyone must be present at the event to win. BEAST also will be present to answer questions about biking around UST and the Twin Cities!

Tommie Mocha Tuesdays

On Tuesdays, Sept. 9, Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2, venture over to Beakers, located on south campus in Owens Science Hall for a free mug and drink punch card (mocha, coffee or hot cocoa). The offer goes from 8 a.m. to noon or until the mugs are gone. It will be on a first-come-first-served basis. So if you're up bright and early, why not start your day with a free beverage?

Student Musician Series

Hear the musical talents of St. Thomas community members performing during the " convo hour" between 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every Thursday, starting on Sept. 11, in Scooter's, lower level, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.

If you are a musician interested in performing, e-mail STAR intern, Lauren Miller.
