Start planning for a Fulbright Student Grant
For more than 58 years, the Fulbright U.S. Student Program has provided future American leaders with an unparalleled opportunity to study, conduct research, or teach in other nations.
Students who will be graduating seniors in the 2006-2007 academic year are especially encouraged to apply.
Student applicants must be U.S. citizens, hold a B.A. degree by the time of the grant, and have sufficient proficiency in the host language to carry out the proposed study. Applicants plan their own projects. Proposals may include university coursework, independent library or field research, classes in a music conservatory or art school, special projects in the social or life sciences, or a combination. The project must be feasible and must require a presence in the host country.
The U.S. Student Program awards approximately 1,100 grants annually and currently operates in more than 140 countries worldwide. Fulbright full grants provide funding for round-trip travel, maintenance for one academic year, health and accident insurance, and full or partial tuition. Fulbright teaching assistantships and travel-only grants also are available to more than 20 countries. The program is designed to give recent B.S. and B.A. graduates and master’s and doctoral candidates opportunities for personal development and international experience.
All St. Thomas students must apply through the International Education Center by Oct. 1, 2006.
