Study abroad representatives visit campus today; St. Thomas to host study abroad conference

Australearn, UMAIE representatives attend Activities Fair today

Learn about study abroad opportunities from representatives of Australearn and UMAIE at the Activities Fair from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Foley Plaza (in the Grill if it is raining). The representatives will be happy to answer questions about their various study abroad programs.

St. Thomas hosts conference for study abroad returnees Sept. 22: 'Coming Home: Making Personal and Professional Use of Your Study Abroad Experience'

"'Coming Home: Making Personal and Professional Use of Your Study Abroad Experience" will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room 304, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.

The event, a collaborative effort of 10 Minnesota colleges and universities’ study abroad offices, will have 200 students in attendance from throughout the state. The keynote speaker is Jeanine Thompson, vice president of International Human Resources at Best Buy.

Thompson will speak about the skills needed in the global workforce, with Best Buy’s opening of a store in Shanghai providing numerous examples of the need for cross-cultural skills.

Breakout sessions on working and volunteering abroad, career panels and résumé critiquing also are on the conference agenda.
