Dr. Roxanne Prichard, Psychology Department, along with students and other UST faculty will lead today’s Telos Project open discussion.
Sponsored by the O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library, the semesterlong Telos series seeks to bring a renewed focus to St. Thomas’ commitment to the pursuit of truth through the integration of knowledge across disciplines.
Meetings take place from noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays in the O’Shaughnessy Room (108), O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library. Each week a professor from a different department gives a brief presentation on:
- His or her discipline
- What attracted him or her to that field
- Why the larger UST community should care
Today’s meeting will begin with a 15-minute introduction to Prichard’s discipline and area of expertise, followed by a discussion and conversation among students and faculty. Cookies and juice will be served.
Prichard graduated from Transylvania University, Kentucky, with a degree in bio-psychology (1998). She later did her post-undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin, earning a Ph.D. in the study of neuroscience (2004). Her areas of interest are sleep and circadian rhythms, and neuroanatomy. She currently conducts studies on the effects that the amount of sleep has on the immune system in college students.
All students are invited to participate in the discussion today and every Thursday. For more information, visit The Telos Project Facebook group or email The Telos Project.
