This week's flu report includes the number of cases, helpful links and phone numbers, and the latest H1N1 vaccine update

In her weekly H1Ni influenza report to the University of St. Thomas community, Madonna McDermott, director of the University of St. Thomas Student Health Service and Wellness Center:

  • Gives an update on the number of flu cases (more this week than last, continuing a trend);
  • Provides the Web link for students who are ill to report their absence from classes;
  • Offers two tips that might help you avoid picking up this easily transmittable virus;
  • Provides a link for the online chart, called the H1N1 Student Triage Protocol, to guide you if you feel sick;
  • Gives an update on when the H1N1 vaccine might arrive on campus (it might be after Thanksgiving);
  • Asks members of the St. Thomas community to please not call the Student Health Service to find out when the vaccine might arrive;
  • Explains a new (and free) Minnesota Department of Health hotline you can call for flu information and treatment options.

McDermott's weekly update is now posted on university's Pandemic Web site, which is St. Thomas' designated site for sharing flu-related announcements to students, staff and faculty.

If information needs to be shared sooner than on a weekly basis, announcements will be made in Bulletin Today or sent via a Bulletin Update e-mail.
