Two earn national scholarships
Kirstin Anderson and Matthew Plese, students at St. Thomas, recently were awarded $500 scholarships from The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. They are among 80 students in the nation to receive the Induction Recognition Award for active participation in their NSCS chapter on campus.
"At NSCS we recognize the amazing potential of freshmen and sophomores," said Stephen E. Loflin, NSCS' executive director.
NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation's only interdisciplinary honors organization to invite first- and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing.
In addition to the Induction Recognition Awards, NSCS awards scholarships for textbooks, study abroad, integrity and graduate school.
