Up ’til Dawn Kicks off Fundraising Campaign With Letter Writing Party Nov. 9

Up ’til Dawn will kick off its annual fundraising campaign for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with a letter-writing party on Tuesday, Nov. 9, in the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex field house.

The registration deadline to participate is Thursday, Oct. 28. Registration forms are available at the box office and can be returned to the Box Office or e-mailed to Katy Sunnarborg.

All that is needed to participate is 50 names and addresses of family and friends. The event will include free food and prizes. Those who write 50 letters will receive a free Up 'til Dawn T-shirt and will be entered into a drawing for an iPod touch.

Up ’til Dawn concludes with a final event where students literally stay “up ’til dawn” in honor of the parents who stay up until dawn with their children who are fighting for their lives. Both events fulfill the club service-hour requirement and can be used for Business 200.

“St. Jude is located in Memphis and treats children from all 50 states and more than 70 countries – without regard to race, religion, creed or their parents’ inability to pay,” remarked Katy Sunnarborg, executive director of Up 'til Dawn. “It costs more than $1.7 million dollars a day to run the hospital, and most of that money comes from public contributions.”
