Here's a roundup of recent St. Thomas mentions of interest in various media. Read the stories by clicking on the links. "Tough odds, strong kids," St. Paul Pioneer Press, Nov. 7, 2007. The [Optimist Club] awards, which will be presented Thursday evening at a formal dinner, are given to low-income and college-aspiring city kids who are doing well in school while overcoming or struggling with compelling odds. Five area schools - Augsburg College, the College of St. Catherine, Hamline University, Macalester College and the University of St. Thomas - continue to pledge to annually match and renew the award amount for any of the recipients who are admitted to and attend their institutions.
