- "A day to party, and you're invited," St. Paul Pioneer Press, Jan. 17, 2009. "There seem to be more outside-the-Beltway festivities than usual," said Nancy Zingale, professor emeritus of political science at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. She attributed the phenomenon to a couple of factors: the historic significance of the first black president and President-elect Barack Obama's heavy use of the Internet to mobilize volunteers and donors during his campaign.
