Charley Walters' column, St. Paul Pioneer Press, June 29, 2010. The sports columnist writes, "Dan Carey, a former Hastings pitcher and New York Mets minor leaguer who is a physiology professor at the University of St. Thomas, has made it through a week of double chemotherapy for a malignant brain tumor and said he's feeling fine. Carey, who turns 61 next month, will undergo another week of double chemo after a month without any treatment. 'My doctors are real confident that they're treating it well,' Carey said."
