Students from the University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine University will present Eric Coble's "Cinderella Confidential" at 7 p.m. today, April 28, and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, in Frey Theater at St. Catherine, 2004 Randolph Ave. They'll also tour with the show, giving two off-campus performances on Saturday, May 1: 11 a.m. at the East Lake Street Library in Minneapolis, and 2 p.m. at Merriam Park Library in St. Paul.
Tickets are $5 for general admission and free to students, faculty and staff with ID from the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities (St. Thomas, St. Catherine, Augsburg College, Macalester College and Hamline University). Coble's 2004 reworking of Cinderella's story begins in the usual way: The prince has the shoe and he's ready to wed. But who's the woman behind the foot? Two investigative reporters – Deb Jabber of Action News Day Now and Sonny Glamour of Glitter Kingdom Today – compete for the scoop of the century, interviewing everybody from a fairy godmother in desperate need of a day planner to the elf and the shoemaker. Look for cameos from Pinocchio, Jack and his cow and other celebs in this no-holds-barred retelling of the favorite tale.
St. Thomas students in the production include actors Beth Anderson, Patrick Gustafson and Landon Rick, "musical genius" Andrew Tessman and stage manager Mary Gustafson. St. Catherine student participants include actor Cynthia Collins and assistant stage manager Heather Nordby.
