What’s new with the Staff Mentorship Program?
We are pleased to report that planning for the Staff Mentorship Program is progressing extremely well. Sixty-eight employees responded to our invitation to participate in the program. The distribution looks like this: 33 employees signed up to be mentees, and 35 employees were nominated to be mentors.
Comprising this cohort of 68 are salaried and hourly employees from both academic and administrative units and from both the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses. Job titles range from administrative assistant to executive vice president. This level of interest surpasses the goal that Human Resources set for the program’s first year. Employee enthusiasm is high, as well.
As you might expect, lots of program activities have occurred during the last few weeks.
- May 29-June 15: Mentorship Selection Committee paired mentees and mentors.
- June 15-29: Mentees initiated contact with their prospective mentors.
- June 25-29: Mentees and mentors reached agreement, signed and returned to Human Resources their Mentorship Program Agreement Form.
The program begins officially Aug. 1 with its first crescendo happening on July 30 with a kick-off celebration and luncheon.
This celebration will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room 304 of Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Program activities will include a luncheon and a mentorship training session.

I hope you are as excited as the Human Resources team and I are about this new program. We believe it offers our campus community many wonderful benefits.
