The recipients of 2011 Alumni Living the Mission Award, Barbara Brekke ’05 J.D., Johanna Clyborne ’05 J.D. and Rebecca Ribich ’05 J.D., will speak tomorrow at Living the Mission: Alumni Reflections, held at the University of St. Thomas' School of Law. The alumna will speak on "Integrating Faith and Reason in the Search for Truth: The Beginnings and Evolution of Brekke, Clyborne & Ribich, L.L.C" from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, in Room 244, School of Law.
This event is free and open to all St. Thomas faculty, students and staff. Lunch will be provided.
The Living the Mission Award is given annually to faculty, staff, students and alumni to recognize their contributions to the School of Law and to the greater community. The awards recognize excellence in professional preparation, scholarly engagement and societal reform, and service and community.
Brekke, Clyborne and Ribich are founding partners of the Shakopee, Minn.-based law firm Brekke, Clyborne & Ribich, L.L.C.
Brekke focuses her practice in the areas of wills, trusts, estate planning and probate, real estate and property, and small business law. She is a frequent speaker at UST law classes, CLEs and conferences, and serves on the boards of Holy Family Catholic High School and the KleinBank Shakopee Branch Advisory Board.
Clyborne practices in the areas of family law, criminal defense, civil litigation and legal issues particular to the United States Armed Forces. Since 1989, she has served in the United States Army National Guard and is a recently returned combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Ribich specializes in family law, immigration law and juvenile law issues. Her involvement in the community has spanned the last 20 years. She was a founding appointee and chair of the City of Plymouth Human Rights Commission, chair of an educational fundraising committee, chair of the parish council for a large suburban parish and facilitator of adult education programs.
The Alumni Reflections series presents St. Thomas alumni who discuss how they integrate faith, reason, and service into their personal and professional lives. This speaker series is a joint offering of the University of St. Thomas Alumni Association and School of Law.
