St. Kate's Presents '1, 2, Buckle My Shoe' Children's Show

The St. Catherine University Department of Music and Theater presents its final production of the 2010-2011 season – “1, 2, Buckle My Shoe,” a traveling children’s show aimed at primary students ages 3 to 8.

A free public preview performance will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, in the Frey Theater, St. Catherine University, 2004 Randolph Ave., St. Paul.

Two public performances will be held on Saturday, May 7:

  • 11 a.m. free show at Merriam Park Library, 1831 Marshall Ave., St. Paul
  • 2 p.m. show in Frey Theater. General admission is $5 and free for ACTC students, faculty and staff. Children age 8 and younger also will be admitted free.

Sure to delight the young and young at heart, “1, 2, Buckle My Shoe” combines song, rhyme, puppetry and improvisation to tell the story of a day in the life of a primary student, Lucy Nicey, and her four best friends – Pam, Josie, Tammy and Cathy. The show is directed by longtime theater professor Jo Ann Holonbeck, who is in her 37th and final year at St. Catherine University.

“1, 2, Buckle My Shoe” was created collaboratively by Holonbeck, stage manager and St. Catherine University student Greta Pahr, and their cast: St. Catherine University students Emily Basquez, Adara Bryan, Katherine Curtis, Evan Gaydos and Cecilia Moline, and University of St. Thomas student Katie Anderson. The production staff includes technical director Troy Wilhelmson and costume designer Emily Heaney.
