Are you considering applying for some of the almost $50,000 available in the Campus Sustainability Fund? The application date of Oct. 11 is fast approaching. Help is available for those looking for guidance putting together a successful application.
At 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 in Anderson Student Center, Room 234, three Physical Plant administrators will be available to discuss your project and provide feedback and advice on how to make it happen. Jim Brummer, Physical Plant director and UST construction manager, Jim Hoffman, assistant director of the Physical Plant, and Bob Douglas, chair of the UST Sustainability Committee, will answer questions and talk through the feasibility of your prospective project.
Proposals for CSF projects may be submitted by any member of the UST community: faculty, student or staff. Projects that offset UST greenhouse gas emissions are encouraged but projects that promote sustainability and education are also welcomed.
Previously funded CSF projects have included reforestation of depleted public park land, an electric vehicle for recycling, increasing water bottle filling stations on campus, deeply discounted annual subscriptions to NiceRide, new bikes for Public Safety, increasing campus vermiculture (worm) composting, expanding the UST Stewardship Garden, and video class projects focused on sustainability. The applications for these already-funded projects are available for review on the Campus Sustainability Fund website, as well as the CSF application and guidelines for the Oct. 11 deadline.
