Looking to burn a few of those holiday calories? Dive into post-holiday fitness at the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex (AARC).
Fitness memberships for St. Thomas faculty and staff, as well as alumni and community members, to use the AARC during January Term and spring semester will go on sale in January.
January Term
For those who did not purchase a fall semester membership (which incudes the month of January), J-Term memberships go on sale starting Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011. Cost is $30. Go to the AARC membership website to sign up (but not before Jan. 1). All medical benefit-eligible employees will receive a wellness rebate of $30 for each month they use the facility 12 days or more.
Spring semester
Current faculty and staff fitness members can renew their memberships for spring semester 2011 starting on Monday, Jan. 17. New memberships also will be available on Jan. 17.

McCarthy Gym
McCarthy Gym continues to be free for all current faculty and staff who have a valid St. Thomas employee ID.
J-Term fitness classes at the AARC
Struggling to keep those New Year’s Resolution? The AARC will offer three workout classes dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles. The class are available to all AARC members.
The classes are $50 and feature eight sessions of spinning, spinning for beginners or yoga. Classes will begin Monday, Jan. 10. Classes are now available for purchase in person at the Box Office, Room 02, Murray-Herrick Campus Center, or by calling the Box Office, (651) 962-6137. For more information go to the AARC website.
New rate for alumni and community fitness memberships
All alumni and community residents who are not current AARC fitness members can apply for a membership for the period Jan. 3 to Sept. 30 at a prorated fee. Memberships will be available to purchase on the AARC membership website on Jan. 1, 2011.
