A number of University of St. Thomas clubs and organizations have joined together to host a pre-finals week stress-release event that will be held on the second-to-last day of classes this semester.
Students can find stress relief from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13, in the Fireside Room, and the two nearby atriums, of Murray-Herrick Campus Center.
Wristbands are required for admission; they are $4 and can be purchased this week at the Box Office in Murray-Herrick Campus Center, or at the door on Thursday. (Express Account cards can be used to purchase the wristbands at the Box Office).
Once you have the wristband, these stress-relievers are all free:
- Comfort-food buffet
- Ben and Jerry’s catering
- Professional massages
- Guided meditation
- Oxygen bar
- Prizes and raffles
- Giveaways that include Aveda products and food gift cards
- T-shirts
- Learn to make a stress ball.
Information about the event can be found on this Facebook page.
The event is designed to ease end-of-the-semester stress and also is a benefit for a local nonprofit organization, Anxiety in Teens, that was founded by St. Thomas sophomore Solome Tibebu to offer support and guidance for young people with anxiety disorders. More information about the organization can be found in this TommieMedia article.
Thursday’s event is hosted by the Active Minds student club, St. Thomas Activities and Recreation (STAR), the Wellness Center and Personal Counseling.
Assisting with the project are six students from the Opus College of Business’ Business 200-Community Service program.
