January Orientation Abuzz With Anticipation

Thornton Auditorium buzzed with anticipation last evening as most of the 101 newly admitted Evening UST MBA students gathered for spring orientation. “Check out this bag!” “What are you registered for?” “Are you going to try any of the waiver exams?” “Have you bought your books yet?” “I already have an assignment due the first night of class!” “Where did you park?” “Where can we park on the St. Paul campus?”

The questions flew around the room until Corey Eakins, Director of the program got up to welcome everyone. Dean Christopher Puto added his words of welcome and offered his perspective on the expectations and value of the journey these students were about to begin, encouraging them to take full advantage of the growth and learning opportunities that lay ahead. Assistant Dean Bill Woodson highlighted extracurricular opportunities and recommended involvement early and often.

The students were joined at dinner by a number of Opus College faculty, UST MBA alumni, and staff from admissions, student life, and career services. This was the informal opportunity to really get to know a few fellow classmates and ask the faculty, alumni and staff the practical “ins-and-outs” kind of questions for thriving in the program.

Dinner was followed by a classroom experience led by a faculty member, giving a flavor for what to expect as well as the chance to ask more questions. Walking out the doors at the end of the evening there was a renewed sense of excitement mixed with a bit of trepidation for “Where am I going to find the time to do all this?!” Fear not fresh faces, you were selected because we believe you will succeed, and we are all here to support you on the journey!

If you would like to join this select group in the future, check out the Evening UST MBA. We would love to hear from you.
