Karen Hennes appointed as president's secretary
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Hennes to the position of president’s secretary, following the upcoming retirement of my longtime secretary, Mary Theuer, at the end of May.
Karen is a familiar face in Aquinas Hall. She came to St. Thomas in 1998 as Judith Dwyer’s administrative assistant and, most recently, has served as the administrative assistant in the Office for Mission. A native of North Dakota, Karen worked for 25 years, in various capacities, at North Dakota State University in Fargo.
It would be impossible, of course, to “replace” Mary Theuer – Mary has been my secretary since 1992 and at St. Thomas much longer than that. She’s kept me on track and, as much as humanly possible, on time, handling her responsibilities with directness, discretion and humor. I will certainly miss her.
But I know that Karen will rise to the high standard of professionalism demanded by this position and to the challenge of being the first voice heard or first face seen by most people when they contact the President’s Office. I know she will do a splendid job and I look forward to working with her.
