'Leadership: It's Not a Spectator Sport' is topic of Nov. 17 Entre Today
The Center for Business Excellence brings you Entre Today – monthly programs featuring "just-in-time" information for the busy professional.
The topic for November's Entre Today program is "Leadership: It's Not a Spectator Sport," with featured speaker Cynthia (Cyndi) Lesher, president and CEO, Northern States Power, an Xcel Energy company.
Good leaders get results. Great leaders get sustainable results. It is clear that the leader of this millennium will not be the leader who has learned the lessons of how to do it. The leader for today and the future will be focused on how to be – in other words, authentic purposeful leadership.
Lesher will present personal leadership lessons learned during her career – what matters and why. The focus will be on leadership that produces transformational change and inspires ordinary people to do extraordinary things.
This event will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, in Room 201, Opus Hall, Minneapolis campus.

About the presenter:
Lesher is president and CEO, Northern States Power Company- Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, an Xcel Energy company.
She most recently served as Xcel Energy's vice president, chief administrative officer and chief human resources officer. Prior to the 2000 merger between New Century Energies and Northern States Power (NSP) to form Xcel Energy, she was president of NSP Gas, having served as vice president, human resources; director of human resources for power generation; general manager of electric utility operations; manager of metro credit and collections; and manager of occupational safety and health.
Lesher was appointed chair of the Governor's Workforce Development Council in 2004 by Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty. She serves on the Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota and on the board of directors of Alliant Techsystems, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, Twin Cities Area Red Cross, the Saint Paul Foundation, the Children's Cancer Research Fund, the Metropolitan Economic Development Association, and is a member of the Minneapolis Downtown Council, the Saint Paul Riverfront Corporation, and the Minneapolis Visitors and Convention Bureau.
