'Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible' workshop set for Jan. 25

The Minnesota College Personnel Association will present "Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible," a workshop, from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in Room 100, McNeely Hall.

Hate crimes that occur on college campuses grab headlines, calling attention to overt racial extremists. The often-hidden system of white privilege is rarely discussed but can make an even greater impact on campus climate.

This workshop, featuring filmmaker Dr. Shakti Butler, will help attendees gain insight into how racism and white privilege affect everyone and will provide ideas on how to talk about these difficult issues.

"Making Whiteness Visible" is a powerful documentary focusing on the experiences of white people committed to challenging racism in the United States. Butler will facilitate Heart to Heart Conversations following the film.

To register and for more information, visit the MCPA Web site; registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 18; registration fees range from $5 to $30.
