At the annual Employee Recognition Celebration Feb. 25, the university recognized faculty and staff who celebrated milestone anniversaries in 2024 as well as those who received employee recognition awards. Close to 300 faculty and staff celebrated service anniversaries ranging from five to 40 years.

Ramadan Mubarak: The Holiday Begins on Friday

The holy month of Ramadan begins at sunset Friday, Feb. 28, and will continue through Saturday, March 29. Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar and is a holy month of fasting, charity, prayers and self-reflection for Muslims. St. Thomas provides multiple prayer spaces on both the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses for those participating in the holiday.

St. Thomas wishes those celebrating the occasion an easy fast and a happy holiday. Please visit the Muslim Student Life page to find links to resources St. Thomas provides during Ramadan.

For breaking the fast with community, there will be several iftar dinners sponsored by different divisions or organizations at St. Thomas. Campus Ministry will host the Islamic Resource Group's Annual Interfiath Iftar at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 3, in the Iversen Center for Faith.

Celebrate Black History Month with the Opus College of Business as guest speaker LeBrent Speed shares insights on mastering the art of networking, with a focus on navigating networks within a multicultural environment. March 1: Step Into Bollywood at a Night of Dance, Music

March 13: The Moth Storytellers Come to Campus

The Luann Dummer Center for Women is thrilled to announce that The Moth is the 2025 speaker for its Annual Women's History Month event on Thursday, March 13, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the O'Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium. This event featuring speakers from the popular The Moth Radio Hour and podcast show is free of charge and open to both the University of St. Thomas community and the general public.

March 17: Join Finding Forward for 'The Amen Effect'

Finding Forward returns this spring with a conversation between Rabbi Sharon Brous and President Rob Vischer. Together they'll explore connection and community in a divided society, including solidarity across different faiths. The focus of this discussion will align with the key themes from Brous' book, The Amen Effect: Ancient Wisdom to Heal Our Hearts and Mend Our Broken World. The free event begins at 7 p.m. March 17 inside James B. Woulfe Alumni Hall. Registration is required.

The University of St. Thomas encourages all full-time undergraduate students to apply for the Student Leadership Scholarship Award, a scholarship created to identify and award scholarship aid to candidates who excel in leadership, community service and the St. Thomas mission. The deadline to apply is April 1.
