The Opus College of Business inducted 142 undergraduate and graduate students into the OCB chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society for students enrolled in business and management programs accredited by AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Eligibility for the society is limited to students in the top 10% of their undergraduate class or top 20% of their graduate program.
Presiding over the ceremony, OCB dean Christopher Puto noted that "election to lifetime membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest honor a business student anywhere in the world can receive."
Also honored at the ceremony was Philip Goldman, president of Maestral International, who was awarded an honorary membership in Beta Gamma Sigma for "his professional and personal commitment to excellence in business." In addition to his efforts at Maestral, which centers on global child protection systems, Goldman has worked with the World Bank's human development operations team in Europe and Central Asia as well as numerous other philanthropic and business ventures. Goldman also serves on the Opus College of Business' Strategic Board of Governors.
The AACSB International accreditation that renders OCB students eligible for Beta Gamma Sigma places the Opus College of Business in an elite group of institutions. Fewer than 5% worldwide have earned this distinguished hallmark of excellence in management education. The Opus College of Business is one of only six accredited business schools in Minnesota and the only private accredited business school in the state.
