Opus College of Business Announces MBA Scholarship Program for Minorities

The University of St. Thomas’ Opus College of Business has announced a new scholarship program targeting under-represented minorities. A total of 15 full-tuition scholarships will be awarded to improve access to the Full-Time UST MBA Program.

The goal of the scholarship program is to improve access to the Full-time UST MBA Program and ensure a diverse learning environment for the university’s graduate business students. The scholarships will be available for fall semester 2012.

Bill Woodson, assistant dean for MBA programs at St. Thomas, said “employers tell us that the ability to collaborate effectively across differences in ethnicity and race, as well as generational and gender diversity, is of greatest importance when hiring MBAs.”

“Lack of access to merit-based scholarships can be a barrier to some students,” added Dr. Chris Puto, dean and Opus Distinguished Chair of the Opus College of Business. “These new scholarships allow us to attract the best and the brightest from all backgrounds, supporting our vision to be recognized for excellence in educating highly principled, global business leaders.”

The National Black MBA Association Inc. and National Society for Hispanic MBAs Inc. will serve as promotional partners for the new program.
