Dr. David Alexander, Dr. John Sailors, and Dr. Jamal Al-Khatib, Marketing Department, Opus College of Business, with Dr. Mohammed Al-Habib, King Abdulaziz University, are the authors of a paper, "The Effect of Near-Versus Distant-Future Mindsets on Socially Responsible Investors' Mutual Fund Preferences," published in the Journal of Financial Services Marketing, 2012, Vol. 17 (1), p. 67-79.
Dr. Habiba Hadziavdic, Modern and Classical Languages Department, College of Arts and Sciences, is the author of “Gypsies as "Marginal Man" in Works by Georg Simmel and Robert Park,” published in the spring issue of Rocky Mountain Review of Language and Literature, Vol. 66.1.
Dr. Mark McInroy, Theology Department, College of Arts and Sciences, is the author of “Rechtfertigung als Theosis: Zur neueren Diskussion über die Lutherdeutung der Finnischen Schule” [Justification as Theosis: Recent Discussions of the Finnish School of Luther Interpretation], published in Catholica (Münster) 66 (2012): 1-18.
Dr. Barbara Shank
Dr. Barbara Shank, dean and professor, School of Social Work, was elected to the Council on Social Work Education’s board of directors as the chair-elect for a one-year term from July 1, 2012, through June 30, 2013. Afterward she will serve as chair of the board of directors from July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2016. CSWE is a nonprofit, national association representing more than 2,500 individual members, as well as 500 undergraduate and 232 graduate programs of professional social work education. Founded in 1952, this partnership of educational and professional institutions, social welfare agencies and private citizens is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the sole accrediting agency for social work education in the United States.
Chemistry Department students presented their research April 21 at the 79th annual meeting and 24th Winchell Undergraduate Research Symposium held at St. Olaf College and sponsored by the Minnesota Academy of Sciences. The participating students, the titles of their talks and their advisers were:
- Amber Schoenecker, “Interaction of Tat Peptide and Cell-surface Glycosaminoglycans to Aid Understanding of Drug Delivery” (student of Dr. Lisa Prevette); Schoenecker also was awarded a "Best in Session of Paper Presentations" recognition for her oral presentation.
- Michael Slitts, “Microwave Synthesis of a Family of Triazole Salts” (student of Dr. Marites A. Guino-o).
