Public Safety Posts Armed-robbery Alert; All-clear Given

The University of St. Thomas Department of Public Safety has issued an alert regarding an armed robbery that took place shortly before 3 a.m. today, Jan. 20, at the SuperAmerica convenience store at the corner of Grand and Cleveland avenues.

The suspect, said to be wearing an “elderly man” Halloween mask and brandishing a black, semiautomatic handgun, fled north on foot.

After gathering information about the robbery, St. Thomas’ Public Safety used the “CityWatch” emergency notification system to send text and email messages to students, staff and faculty. The message explained that police were searching the area and advised members of the community to “remain in your location until all-clear.” An “all-clear” message was sent shortly after 4 a.m.
