Penny Wars and Relay for Life information sessions take up the fight against cancer this week.
Interested in participating in this year’s Relay for Life on Friday, April 20? The event gives everyone a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
At Relay for Life, teams from St. Thomas and St. Kate’s will camp out in the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex and take turns walking around the field house track. Participants do not have to walk all night, but each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event.
Information sessions
Colleges Against Cancer will host an information table from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 7 and 9, on the second floor of the Anderson Student Center; in addition, two information sessions will outline how to join or create a Relay for Life team:
- Wednesday, Feb. 8 – 7 p.m. in Room 238, Anderson Student Center
- Thursday, Feb. 9 – noon in Room 235, Anderson Student Center
Penny Wars
Don’t miss out on Penny Wars, a competition between the classes to collect spare change. Pennies earn a class points, and silver coins or dollars decrease points. Gain points for or against a class depending on which bucket and what kind of money is used. To play, place pennies in your class’ bucket, e.g., Class of 2013, and place silver coins or dollar bills in the buckets of the other classes to put them behind.
Buckets for each class will be set up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today through Friday, Feb. 10, on the second floor of the Anderson Student Center. The winning class will be announced on Saturday, Feb. 11, and its prize will be VIP treatment the night of relay.
