Retired Minnesota Supreme Court justices Sandy Keith, Kathleen Blatz and Eric Magnuson will share their perspectives on the history of the Minnesota Supreme Court during a Feb. 25 event at the University of St. Thomas School of Law.
The event is free and open to the public, and offers 1.5 hours of continuing legal education credit for lawyers who attend. It will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Schulze Grand Atrium at the law school’s downtown Minneapolis campus.
Opening remarks will be presented by current Chief Justice Lorie Skjerven Gildea.
Keith, who practices family law out of Dunlap & Seeger, P.A., in Rochester, was appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1989, later serving as chief justice from 1990-98. He returned to private practice in 1998.
Blatz served on the court from 1996 to 2006, holding the chief justice post from 1998 until her retirement in 2006. She was the first female chief justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court.
Magnuson, now partner at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, L.L.P., was appointed chief justice of the court in 2008. He served in that role until 2010.
The event is sponsored by the University of St. Thomas chapter of the Minnesota Supreme Court Historical Society, and the Holloran Center for Ethical Leadership in the Professions.
