Dr. Sue Cipolle, an adjunct faculty member in the School of Education, will speak at a luncheon discussion on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Cipolle will discuss her book Service-Learning and Social Justice: Engaging Students in Social Change.

Moderated by Dr. Eleni Roulis, the event will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Room 301, Terrence Murphy Hall, on the Minneapolis campus.
Cipolle, has been a teacher and service-learning administrator for more than 30 years at Benilde-St. Margaret High School. Her book has been praised for combining accessible theoretical analysis with concrete recommendations grounded in research and experience.
Her talk will examine how service-learning can be practiced as a critical pedagogy. She will address topics such as education as an act of social justice and higher education strategies for developing a critical consciousness.
