The search for the next executive vice president and provost at St. Thomas is under way.
President Julie Sullivan met Aug. 23 for the first time with the search committee and a search consultant. They will assist her in choosing a successor to Dr. Susan Huber, who will retire next June 30.
Sullivan will chair the committee and work with Korn/Ferry International, a recruiting firm with 80 offices and 3,200 employees around the globe, to identify candidates for the position.
“The executive vice president and provost position is vitally important to the future of St. Thomas,” Sullivan said. “Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and IRT already are working closely under Dr. Huber’s leadership, and I look forward to seeing further collaboration among other divisions throughout the year.”
St. Thomas will place ads for the position this month in the Chronicle of Higher Education and other publications, and Korn/Ferry will begin to recruit candidates. The committee expects to conduct initial interviews in January and on-campus interviews of finalists in February, and complete the search in March.
The following individuals will serve on the 15-person committee with Sullivan and Dr. Susan Alexander, executive adviser to the president, who is staffing the committee and is an ex-officio member:
Dean: Dr. Terence Langan, College of Arts and Sciences.
Faculty: Dr. Thomas Connery, communication and journalism, Dr. Catherine Cory, theology; Dr. Kendra Garrett, social work; Dr. Kenneth Goodpaster, business ethics; Neil Hamilton, law; Dr. Thomas Hickson, geology; Dr. Ameeta Jaiswal-Dale, finance; and Dr. Robert Riley, economics.
Staff: Karen Lange, Dean of Students Office, and Joe Herrera, Enrollment Services.
Students: Jenna Johnson, Undergraduate Student Government president, and Ty Jesinoski, graduate student.
